SHIRK

Shirk’ or associating another in God-head with Allah, has three main parts:
  1. Shirk in Allah’s Self
  2. Shirk in Allah’s Attributes
  3. Shirk in Allah’s Rights

Shirk in Allah’s Self:

This would be if one were to claim that Allah has a son, or has a mother, father, brothers, sisters, family, children; or to claim that someone or something created Allah! This is committing ‘shirk’ in Allah’s Self.

Shirk in Allah’s Attributes:

Allah has declared 99 of His attributes in the Glorious Quran, and Allah Alone knows how many more there are. For example, Allah is the ‘Al Aleem’ (The All Knowing). He Alone is the All Knowing of the seen and the unseen! If one believes anybody else in creation knows everything, or even has the power to know everything, then one would have wrongfully elevated someone to the position of Allah’s Attributes, and that would be a clear manifestation of ‘shirk’.

Similarly, Allah is the ‘As Samee’ (The All Hearing). He Alone is the All Hearing. If one were to believe anybody else in creation hears everything, or even has the power to hear everything, then one would have wrongfully elevated someone to the position of Allah’s Attributes, and that would constitute ‘shirk’.

Similarly, Allah is the ‘Al Qader’ (The One who is Able to do all things). He Alone has the Power to do anything and everything exactly as He Plans and Wills. If one believes that anybody in creation can do whatever they want, even when Allah does not permit him, that would be ‘shirk’! Everything that happens in this world needs the precise permission of Allah Subhanah… only when He Wills and Permits can a thing happen.

Shirk in Allah’s Rights:

The biggest Right of Allah is that being our Creator and our Sustainer, He Alone deserves our invocation and our worship. This is absolutely the biggest Right of Allah Subhanah. If one shares even an iota of this Right which is due to Allah Subhanah with anyone or anything else in creation, it would constitute ‘shirk’! If anyone invokes or calls upon anyone or anything other than Allah Subhanah in the unseen……any person, any idol, any grave, any shrine, anything… and invokes them in the unseen to fulfill their prayers or their desires, that would be a clear manifestation of the heinious crime of ‘Shirk’! Allah Alone deserves that we pray to Him, call upon Him, serve Him, sacrifice for Him, fear Him, obey His laws, follow His appointed Messengers, and obey and follow the commandments of His Revealed Book! If one does any of the above for anybody else other than Allah, then it would be ‘Shirk’.

Each and every Prophet of Allah who were sent on this earth warned mankind to save themselves from this very crime; for if one did any wrong there is a chance Allah Subhanah might forgive them….but if one were to die in the state of ‘shirk’, there is absolutely no chance of forgiveness for this one single most heinous of crimes in the Presence of the Lord Most Majestic Most Supreme in the Hereafter!

Thus it becomes our duty to recognize and be aware of ‘shirk’ and all the manifestations of this horrendous and unforgivable sin. Allow us to just give you an example of what would constitute ‘shirk’:

  • Bowing down to anybody or anything other than Allah is shirk.
  • Bowing down to any animate or inanimate object like the sun, moon, stars, idols, humans, graves, shrines, tombs, etc. is shirk.
  • Believing that the dead people in their graves can hear and answer our invocations is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah can bring about any harm upon someone in the unseen is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah can bring about any good upon someone in the unseen is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah knows absolutely everything is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah sees absolutely everything is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah listens to one’s invocations in the unseen is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah can help another in the unseen is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody other than Allah can guide another is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody can influence Allah to give one health is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody can influence Allah to give one wealth is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody can influence Allah to give one children is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody has any power with Allah is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody has any power with Allah to take one out of the fire of Hell is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody has any power with Allah on the Day of Judgement is shirk.
  • Believing that anybody has any power to change the decision of Allah is shirk.
  • To worship anybody or anything with Allah is shirk.
  • To invoke anybody or anything with Allah in the unseen is shirk.
  • To raise anybody to the Rank of Allah is shirk.
  • To give or share any of Allah’s Exclusive Attributes to anybody else is shirk.

To associate other beings or things with Allah Subhanah is ‘shirk’! To share any of the Exclusive Attributes of Allah Subhanah with anyone in creation is ‘shirk’! To invoke or worship anyone or anything with Allah Subhanah is ‘shirk’!

Where is the Muslim Outrage?

Mike Ghouse:
Just to remind :
See:
6:125- Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best who have strayed from His Path and who receive guidance. 2161 2162

In this wonderful passage are laid down principles of religious preaching, which are good for all time. But where are the teachers with such qualifications? We must invite all to the way of Allah, and expound His Universal Will; we must do it with wisdom and discretion, meeting people on their own ground and convincing them with illustrations from their own knowledge and experience, which may be very n arrow, or very; wide. Our preaching must be, not dogmatic, not self-regarding, not offensive, but gentle, considerate, and such as would attract their attention . Our manner and our arguments should not be acrimonious, but modeled on the most courteous and the most gracious example, so that the hearer may say; to himself, “This man not dealing merely with dialectics; he is not trying to get a rise out of me; he sincerely expounding the faith that is in him, and his motive is the love of man and the love of Allah

The final fatwa of Shaykh 'Abdul-'Azeez ibn Baaz warning against the Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh
*Please appropriately reference this fatwa to: www.fatwa-online.com, thankyou!*
Question
: Your excellency, we hear about the Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh and that which their da'wah entails. So would you advise me to join this Jamaa'ah. I anticipate your guidance and advice, and may Allaah reward you immensely.

Response: Whoever invites to (the path of) Allaah, then he is a muballigh (one who conveys the message (of Islaam)), (as the hadeeth mentions):

((Convey from me, even if it be a (single) Aayah));

However, the Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh (originally) from India have many deviations. They have some aspects of bid`ah and shirk, so it is not permissible to go (out) with them, except for a person who has knowledge and goes (out) with them to disapprove of what they are upon and to teach them (the truth). If, however, he goes (out) to follow and adhere to them, then no.

That is because they have deviations, mistakes and lack of knowledge. However, if there was a Jamaa'ah doing tableegh other than them, from the people of knowledge, then (it is permissible to) go out with them for daw'ah purposes.

If there was a person of knowledge who goes out with them to enlighten and guide them, along with teaching them such that they leave their falsehood and embrace the way of Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamaa'ah, (then that is good).

This fatwa was extracted from the tape: 'Fatwa Samaahatush-Shaykh 'Abdul 'Azeez Ibn Baaz concerning the Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh' which was published in Ta'if about two years before the Shaykh's death. The tape refutes the cover-up of the Jamaa'ah at-Tableegh and the old statement of the Shaykh which was published before their reality and manhaj was made clear to him.

फ्रिदय Prayers

FRIDAY PRAYERS

92:9 - And gives the lie to the Best 6165

The evil are distinguished here by 3 signs:

1). Selfish greed and denial of other people’s rights;

2). Arrogance and self-sufficiency,

3). Knowlingly dishonouring TRUTH Out of spite, or seeing ugliness where there is beauty.

Such men’s downward progress gathers momentum as theyl go, and their end can be nothing but Misery. Where will be their boasted wealth and possessions, or their self-confidence ?

3) knowingly dishonouring Truth out of spite, or seeing ugliness where there is beauty, Such men’s downward progress gathers momentum as they go, and end in misery.

98:1 - Those who reject (Truth) among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists were not going to depart (from their ways) until there should come to them Clear Evidence

As at present, most of the muslims really do not seek for the Truth, but only follow their own fancies and desires.

Thus have they deviated from the set rules in performing the Friday Prayers as in 92:9 shown above, and are getting deprived of the MAGNIFICENT REWARDS GUARANTEED BY ALLAH if this prayer is performed correctly. !

They are innovating (bid’ah) knowingly or unknowingly dishonouring the TRUTH (out of spite.)

" There is great confusion in my country in performing the Jum'ah prayers.
Some of them are:-

Saying salawat on the Prophet (sal) prior to Adhan,
Muazzin calling upon the congregation to pray two rakats of prior sunnah of Jum'ah,
They then pray two and some four rakats,
The muazzin holding a pole and saying the mahshar,
The imam on Khutbah for almost one hour,
Supplications by the imam and the congregation with raised hands and shouting ameen ,
After the completion of the 2 rakats of Jum'ah, they pray at the same place without moving, some two and some 4 rakats.etc.,

I tried to speak to Mufti Taqi Usmani to talk on this subject, but he too keeps silent for reasons better known to him. (through emails and web site: Islamhelpline .com !

82:6 - [Yusufali 82:6] O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-

Even the JINNS said:-

Divergent Paths:

[Yusufali 72:11]
'There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary: we follow divergent paths।

Muslim Rebels are Revolting

MUSLIM REBELS ARE REVOLTING

(MUTAKALLIFS)

52:11 - Then woe that Day to those that treat (truth) as Falsehood 5045

1). the rebels against Allah and Allah's Truth, just as it will be a Day of Joy and Thanksgiving to the Righteous, (2) those who openly defied Truth and plunged into wrong-doing, (3) or who trifled with truth, (4) who jested with serious matters, who had not the courage to plunge openly into wrong-doing but who secretly took profit out of it, who wasted their life in doubts and petty quibbles.

But the mercy of Allah was open to all if they had repented and amended their lives. (52.11)

4:117 - (The pagans) leaving Him call but upon female deities: they call but upon Satan the persistent rebel! 627

16:100 - His authority is over those only who take him as patron and who join partners with Allah.

19:69 - Then shall We certainly drag out from every sect all those who were worst in obstinate rebellion against (Allah) Most Gracious.

2518 Three interpretations are possible, (1) The general interpretation is that every person must pass through or by or over the Fire. Those who have had Taqwa (see. n. 26 to ii. 2) will be saved by Allah's Mercy, while unrepentant sinners will suffer the torments in ignominy, (2) If we refer the pronoun "you" to those "in obstinate rebellion" in verse 69 above, both leaders and followers in sin, this verse only applies to the wicked, (3) Some refer this verse to the Bridge over Hell, the Bridge Sirat, over which all must pass to their final Destiny. This Bridge is not mentioned in the Qur-an. (19.71)

3:196 - Let not the strutting about of the unbelievers through the land deceive thee:

7:37 - Who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or rejects his signs? For such their portion appointed must reach them from the Book (of decrees); until when Our messengers (of death) arrive and take their souls they say: "where are the things that ye used to invoke besides Allah?" They will reply "they have left us in the lurch" and they will bear witness against themselves that they had rejected Allah. 1018

3769 They will be deprived of the blessing and guidance of Allah. They sought to cause disorder in Allah's world-moral as well as material; but they will themselves be destroyed. Those who become outlaws, rebels against the Law, will themselves be destroyed by the Law. (33.61)

52:32 - Is it that their faculties of understanding urge them to this or are they but a people transgressing beyond bounds? 5066 5067

5066 It may be that the persecutors of Truth are ignorant, and their deficient faculties of understanding mislead them, but it is more often the case that they are perverse rebels against the law of Allah, defending their own selfish interests, and preventing those whom they oppress, from getting justice. (52.32)

38:86 -Say: "No reward do I ask of you for this (Qur'an) nor am I a pretender. 4238 4239

4239 Mutakallif: a man who pretends to things that are not true, or declares as facts things that do not exist, one who takes upon himself tasks to which he is not equal. True prophets are not people of that kind. (38.86)

2394 THEY ARE Satan's progeny: All his followers are also his progeny. (18.50)

WHAT ARE THEY DOING?

They are distorting the Religion:

1. Recital of Salawat before Azan in Mosques contrary to Hadhis

2. Jummah Prayers- not confirming to authentic Hadhis, viz: praying Salatul Jummah after the 1st Azan, Long Khutbas (instead of short) and wasting time – misleading the congregation on irrelevant subjects; making Prayers short – (instead of long) and devoting more time in collecting donations in tills and buckets as in begging for the mosques, etc.,

3. Janaza – burial delays due to various recitals – halara, dikr, Qumran recitals, etc.,

4. Paying to Homage to Saints –m as partners, patrols, protectors, intercessors, helpers, equals, with Allah;

5. Birthday celebrations of the Prophet (Sal) and recitals of Mowloods and Kaththams,

6. Hijab or Niqab or devoid of them,

7. Haram and Halal – ignored in many respects’

8. Sunnah or Farlu (Obligatory) not adhered to;

9. Iddah for 4 months and 10 days or 40 days!

10. Treat innovations as permissible,

11. Hadith – authentic or weak, not concerned

12. Community – a bunch of spendthrifts in weddings etc., for prestige, not fearing Allah,

13. They join in worship others with Allah – false worship – even though this is indeed the highest wrong-doing etc.

14. Birthday celebrations of Muslim leaders and prominent people invoking blessings from Muslims and non-Muslims and their deities in their Temples!

15. They are forming various sects – all the 73 sects said in the Hadhis are there.!

16. To Bestow Honour – they are covering with Silk/Silver/Woolen and Gold BROCADES, contrary to Hadhis,

17. Crazy for palatial buildings and luxury limousines. Ignore good neighborliness and giving Salam to one another,

18. Arrogance and superiority complex in their dealings with men, etc.,

6:69 - On their account no responsibility falls on the righteous but (their duty) is to remind them that they may (learn to) fear Allah. 892

27:58 - And We rained down on them a shower (of brimstone): and evil was the shower on those who were admonished (but heeded not)!

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
Hadith 269 Narrated by
Ziyad ibn Hudayr

Umar said to me: Do you know what demolishes Islam? I said: No. Whereupon he said: It is the slip of a scholar and the dispute of the hypocrite by the Book, and the commands of the misguided rulers which demolish it.

Severe strife and Confusion among Muslims ? See Hadhis below:-

Biographies of Companions
Ubayy ibn Kab

One of Ubayy's major fears for the Muslim ummah was that a day would come when there would be severe strife among Muslims. He often became overwhelmed with emotion when he read or heard the verse of the Quran." "Say: He (Allah) has power to send calamities on you, from above and below, or to cover you with confusion in party strife, giving you a taste of mutual vengeance, each from the other." (Surah al-An'am, 6: 65)

Sunan of Abu-Dawood
Hadith 4251 Narrated by
AbuHurayrah

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: There will be civil strife (fitnah) which will render people deaf, dumb and blind regarding what is right. Those who contemplate it will be drawn by it, and giving rein to the tongue during it will be like smiting with the sword.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
Hadith 3553 Narrated by
AbuBarzah al-Aslami

Sharik ibn Shihab said, One of those behind him, a black man whose hair was completely cut off and who was wearing two white garments, then said, "You have not divided justly, Muhammad." Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) became very angry and said, "I swear by Allah that after my death you will not find a man more just than I am." He added, "At the end of time people looking like this man will come forth, reciting the Qur'an, but it will not pass their throats. They will swerve from Islam as an arrow passes through the game at which is it shot, and their distinguishing mark will be shaving. They will continue to come forth till the last of them comes forth with the antichrist. When you meet them they will be the worst of men and beasts."

5:77 - Say: "O people of the Book! exceed not in your religion the bounds (of what is proper) trespassing beyond the truth nor follow the vain desires of people who went wrong in times gone by who misled many and strayed (themselves) from the even way. 785

785 Excess, as opposed to moderation and reason, is the simplest test by which a hypocrite or a selfish man who "trades" on religion, is known from a sincere, pious, and truly religious man. Excess means that truth is sometimes concealed or trampled upon, that the fashions of ancestors or contemporaries are copied or overdone, and Allah's name is dishonoured by blasphemies or the setting up of false gods or fetishes, or that good (or even bad) men are deified and worshipped. The true path is the even path, the path of rectitude.

40:19 - (Allah) knows of (the tricks) that deceive with the eyes and all that hearts (of men) conceal. See Notes :4383 4384

3:77 - As for those who sell the faith they owe to Allah and their own plighted word for a small price they shall have no portion in the hereafter: nor will Allah (deign to) speak to them or look at them on the Day of Judgment nor will He cleanse them (of sin); they shall have a grievous penalty. 412 413

5944 The abiding Punishment will be for those who had willfully and persistently rebelled against Allah, "transgressing all bounds", and had given themselves up to the vanities and lusts of this lower life. This Punishment will not touch those who had repented and been forgiven, nor those guilty, through human frailty, of minor sing, whose deeds will be weighed in the balance against their good deeds: ci. 6-9. (79.38)

6200 If man rebels against Allah, and follows after evil, he will be abased to the lowest possible position. For Judgment is sure. Those who use their faculties aright and follow Allah's Law will reach the high and noble destiny intended for them. That reward will not be temporary, but unfailing. (95.5)

6201 . After this: i.e., when it is clearly shown to you that Allah created man true and pure, that He guides him, and that those who rebel and break His law will be punished and brought down in the Hereafter, who can doubt this, or contradict the Prophet when he gives warning? (95.7)

6200 This verse should be read with the next. If man rebels against Allah, and follows after evil, he will be abased to the lowest possible position. For Judgment is sure. Those who use their faculties aright and follow Allah's Law will reach the high and noble destiny intended for them. That reward will not be temporary, but unfailing. (95.5)

6201 Thee: may refer to the holy Prophet, or to man collectively. After this: i.e., when it is clearly shown to you that Allah created man true and pure, that He guides him, and that those who rebel and break His law will be punished and brought down in the Hereafter, who can doubt this, or contradict the Prophet when he gives warning? (95.7)

83:1 - Woe to those that deal in fraud 6011

6011 - with what face can a man ask for Mercy or Love from Allah when he is unwilling to give it to his fellow-men?( or rebel against His Laws) In one aspect this is a statement of the Golden Rule. 'Do as you would be done by'. But it is more completely expressed. You must give in full what is due from you, whether you expect or wish to receive full consideration from the other side or not. (83.1)

96:9 -Seest thou one who forbids. 6210

96:10 -A votary when he (turns) to pray?

96:11 -Seest thou if He is on (the road of) Guidance? 6211

96:12 -Or enjoins Righteousness?

96:13 - Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 6212

96:14 - Knoweth he not that Allah doth see?

96:15- Let him beware! If he desist not We will drag him by the forelock 6213

96:16 -A lying sinful forelock!

96:17 -Then let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 6214

96:18 -We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 6215

96:19- Nay heed him not: but bow down in adoration and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! 6216

6210 The words, may be applied generally to perverse humanity, which seeks not only to rebel against Allah's Law, but also to prevent others from following it. There may however be a reference here to Abu Jahil, an inveterate enemy of Islam, who used in its early days to insult and persecute the holy Prophet and those who followed his teaching. He used, in particular, to use shameful methods to prevent the Prophet from going to the Ka'ba for devotions, and forbid any who came under his influence, from offering prayers or performing devotions. He was arrogant and purse-proud and met his end in the battle of Badr. (96.9)

6211 Man's insolence leads to two results: (1) self-destruction through self- misleading; (2) a false example or false guidance to others. The righteous man must therefore test human example or human guidance by the question, "Is there Allah's guidance behind it?" And visible light would be thrown on it by the question, "Does it lead to righteousness?" A flouting of Allah and Allah's truth answers the first question in the negative, and conduct which turns back from the eternal principles of Right answers the second. (96.11)

6212 The usual trick of the ungodly is to refuse to face Truth. If they are placed in a corner, they deny what is obvious to reasonable men, and turn their backs. (96.13)

6216 The righteous man has no fear. He can disregard all the forces of evil that are brought against him. But he must learn humility: that is his defense. He will bow down in adoration to Allah. He must have the will to bring himself closer to Allah. For Allah is always close to him,-closer to him than his life blood in the jugular vein (I. 16). Man's humility and adoration remove him from being an insolent rebel on the one hand and, on the other, prepare his will to realize his nearness to Allah. (96.19)

6234 The fear of Allah is the fear to offend against His holy law, the fear to do anything which is against His holy Will. Such fear is akin to love; for with it dawns the consciousness of Allah's loving-care for all His creatures. (98.8) (This is TAQWA)

PROPHET MOHAMED’S LAST SERMON

"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I don't know whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore listen to what I am saying to you carefully and take these words to those who could not be present here today.

Beware of Satan, for your safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, says your five daily prayers (Selah), fast during the month of Ramadan, and gives your wealth in Zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. You know that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. You are all equal. Nobody has superiority over other except by piety and good action.

O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Qumran and my example, the Sunnah and if you follow these you will never go astray.

103:2 - Verily Man is in loss

103:3- Except such as have Faith and do righteous deeds and (join together) in the mutual teaching of Truth and of Patience and Constancy.

6265 If he lived only for himself, he would not fulfill his whole duty. Whatever good he has, especially in moral and spiritual life, he must spread among his brethren, so that they may see the Truth and stand by it in patient hope and unshaken constancy amidst all the storm and stress of outer life. For he and they will then have attained Peace within. (103.3)

To Serve Allah

To
Serve Allah

51:56I have only created Jinns and men that they may serve Me. 5032

Man was created to serve Allah and how do you serve Allah ? Do you think if you said the five times prayers, given Zakat and observed fast – the job is over. These are only pre-requisits to help them to do that (serve Allah) for which they were created. You serve Him by turning brown earth into green, or cleaning the streets, and you serve Him by Spreading Education. That way you can reform the people. The pre-conditions are there to help you to do that. Today, the Muslims are not doing that. They are content with the rituals and they are content with going into the Book. They remain ignorant today. Why? Why are they not playing an effective role? It is because - Islam is in the Book and the Muslims are in the grave!

20:114“O my Lord! Advance me in knowledge.”

STRIVE TOGETHER (as in a race)

2:148 - To each is a goal to which Allah turns him; then strive together (as in a race) toward all that is good. Whosoever ye are Allah will bring you together. For Allah hath power over all things. 153

153 “To each is a goal to which he turns.” The simile of life being a race in which we all zealously run forward to the one goal, viz., the goal of good, may be applied individually and nationally.

Ways of serving Allah: (few examples)

The first word revealed to the Prophet is “IQRA” (Read).

96:1 - Proclaim! (or Read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher Who created 6203 6204

96:3 - Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful

6203 Iqraa may mean “read”, or “recite or rehearse”, or “proclaim aloud”, the object understood being Allah’s Message. In worldly letters he was unversed ,but with spiritual knowledge his mind and soul were filled, and now had come the time when he must stand forth to the world and declare his mission. (96.1)

6204 The declaration or proclamation was to be in the name of Allah the Creator. It was not for any personal benefit to the Prophet: to him there was to come bitter persecution, sorrow, and suffering. It was the call of Allah for the benefit of erring humanity. Allah is mentioned by his title of “thy Lord and Cherisher”, to establish a direct nexus between the source of the Message and the one addressed. The message was not merely an abstract proposition of Philosophy, but the direct concrete message of a personal Allah to the creatures whom He loves and cherishes. “Thy” addressed to the Prophet is appropriate in two ways: (1) he was in direct contact with the divine Messenger (Gabriel) and Him Who sent the Messenger; (2) he represented the whole of humanity, in a fuller sense than that in which Christ Jesus is the “Son of Man.” (96.1)

51:56 - I have only created jinns and men that they may serve Me. 5032

5032 Creation is not for idle sport or play: xxi. 16. Allah has a serious Purpose behind it, which, in our imperfect state, we can only express by saying that each creature is given the chance of development and progress towards the Goal, which is Allah. Allah is the source and centre of all power and all goodness, and our progress depends upon our putting ourselves into accord with His Will. This is His service. It is not of any benefit to Him: see the next two verses: it is for our own benefit. (51.56)

16:125 - Invite (all) to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for thy Lord knoweth best who have strayed from His Path and who received guidance. 2161 2162

Text Box: 2161 In this wonderful passage are laid down principles of religious preaching, which are good for all time. But where are the Teachers with such qualifications? We must invite all to the Way of Allah, and expound His Universal Will; we must do it with wisdom and discretion, meeting people on their own ground and convincing them with illustrations from their own knowledge and experience, which may be very narrow, or very wide. Our preaching must be, not dogmatic, not self-regarding, not offensive, but gentle, considerate, and such as would attract their attention. Our manner and our arguments should not be acrimonious, but modelled on the most courteous and the most gracious example, so that the hearer may say to himself, “This man is not dealing merely with dialectics; he is not trying to get a rise out of me; he is sincerely expounding the faith that is in him, and his motive is the love of man and the love of Allah.” (16.125)

2161 It may be that the Preacher sometimes says to himself, “What is the use of teaching these people? They have made up their minds, or they are obstinate; or they are only trying to catch me out,” Let him not yield to such a thought. Who knows how the seed of the Word of Allah may germinate in people’s minds? It is not for man to look for results. Man’s inner thoughts are known best to Allah. (16.125)

67:2 - He Who created Death and Life that He may try which of you is best in deed: and He is the Exalted in Might Oft-Forgiving 5556 5557 5558

5557 Creation, therefore, is not in mere sport, or without a purpose with reference to man. The state before our present life, or the state after, we can scarecely understand. But our present Life is clearly given to enable us to strive by good deeds to reach a nobler state. (67.2)

5558 All this is possible, because Allah is so Exalted in Might that He can perfectly carry out His Will and Purpose, and that Purpose is Love, Mercy, and Goodness to His creatures. (67.2)

3:145 -And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve Us with) gratitude. 4613:145 -And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve Us with) gratitude. 461

3:145 -And swiftly shall We reward those that (serve Us with) gratitude. 461

3:182 - Allah never harms those who serve Him.” 488

Text Box: 4:36 - Serve Allah and join not any partners with Him: and do good to parents kinsfolk orphans those in need neighbors who are near neighbors who are strangers the companion by your side the way-farer (ye meet) and what your right hands possess: for Allah loveth not the arrogant the vainglorious; 550 551 552 553 554

550 the essence of Islam is to serve Allah and do good to your fellow-creatures. This is wider and more comprehensive than “Love God and love your neighbour”. For it includes duties to animals as our fellow-creatures, and emphasises practical service rather than sentiment. (4.36)

551 Neighbours who are near: that is, in local situation as well as intimate relationships, just as neighbours who are strangers includes those whom we do not know or who live away from us (4.36)

552 - The Companion by your side may be your intimate friends and associates, just as the way-farers you meet may be a casual acquaintance on your travels. This last is much wider than the “stranger within your gate.” (4.36)

554- Real deeds of service and kindness proceed, not from showing off or from a superior sort of condescension (cf. “White Man’s Burden”), but from a frank recognition of our own humility and the real claims, before Allah, of all our fellow-creatures. For in our mutual needs we are equal before Allah, or perhaps the best of us (as the world sees us) may be worse than the worst of us (from the same point of view). (4.36)

9:112- Those that turn (to Allah) in repentance: that serve Him and praise Him : that wander in devotion to the Cause of Allah ; that bow down and prostrate themselves in prayer; that enjoin good and forbid evil; and observe the limits set by Allah; (these do rejoice ). So proclaim the glad tidings to the Believers. 1363

21:19-To Him belong all (creatures) in the heavens and on earth :even those who are in his (very ) Presence are not too proud to serve Him nor are they (ever)weary (of His service): 2679

2679 The pure angelic hosts, whom we imagine to be glorious creatures of light, high in Heavens, near the Throne of Allah Himself, are yet His creatures, and serve Him without ceasing, and are proud to do so Such is the majesty of Allah Most High. (21.19)

29:16- And (We also saved )Abraham : Behold he said to his people “serve Allah and fear Him: that will be best for you if ye understand! 3438

29:17- “For ye do worship idols besides Allah and ye invent falsehood. The things that ye worship besides Allah have no power to give you sustenance: then seek ye sustenance from Allah serve Him and be grateful to Him: to Him will be your return. 3439

3439 Sustenance in the symbolic as well as the literal sense. Seek from Allah all that is necessary for your upkeep and development, and for preparing you for your future Destiny. Lay all your hopes in Him and in no one else. Dedicate yourselves to his worship. He will give you all that is necessary for your growth and well being, and you should show your gratitude to him by conforming your will entirely to His. (29.17)

29:56- O My servants who believe! Truly spacious is My Earth : therefore serve ye Me (and Me alone! 3489

6:162- Say: “Truly my prayer and my service of sacrifice my life and my death are (all) for Allah the Cherisher of the Worlds:”

11:26- ‘That ye serve none but Allah: verily I do fear for you the Penalty of a Grievous Day.”1517

1517 Noah’s mission was to a wicket world, plunged in sin. The mission had a double character, as in the mission of all Prophets of Allah: it had to warm men against evil and call them to repentance, and it had to give them the glad tidings of Allah’s Grace in case they turned back to Allah: it was a Guidance and Mercy. (11.26)

35:30- For He will pay them their meed nay He will give them (even) more out of His faults are blotted out , and he is treated as if he had committed no faults: “for Allah is Oft- Forgiving. And ready to appreciate service”. (35.30)

3917 Cf,xiv. 5, and n.2877for shakur. Allah is ready to recognise, appreciate, and reward the smallest service, without regard to the defects in that service. His gracious acceptance is compared to “gratitude” among men. (35.30)

37:1 By those who range themselves in ranks. 4030 4031

37:2- And so are strong in repelling (evil) 4032

37:3- And thus proclaim the message (of Allah)!

4031 Two questions arise: (1) are the doers of the three things noted in verses 1-3 the same person, whose actions or qualities are differently described, or are they three distinct sets of persons? (2) in either case, who are they ? as to (1) the most authoritative view is that the three clauses describe the same set of persons in different aspects. As to (2) some take them to refer to angle, and others understand by them the good men, the men of God, who strive and range themselves in Allah’s service.

4032 The three acts in verses 1-3 are consecutive, as shown by the particle fa. I understand them to mean that angels and good men:

(1) are ever ready to range themselves in ranks in the service of Allah and work in perfect discipline and accord at all times;

(2) that they check and frustrate evil wherever they find it and they are strengthened in doing so by their discipline and their ranging themselves in ranks: and

(3) that this service furthers the Kingdom of Allah and proclaims His Message and His glory to all creation. (37.2)

39:2- Verily it is We who have revealed the book to thee in Truth: so serve Allah offering Him sincere devotion.

39:3- Is it not to Allah that sincere devotion is due? But those who take for protectors other than Allah (say): “We only serve them in order that they may bring us nearer to Allah. “Truly will judge between them in that wherein they differ. But Allah guides not

such as are false and ungrateful. 4243 4244 4245

4243 In the many Signs in Creation as describe below, there yet is a clear indication of the unity of Plan, pointing to the Unity of the Creator. Worship or service is due to none but Him. And He wants exclusive and sincere devotion. (39.3)

4244 Text Box: 4243 This departure of theirs from true worship, this divergence from the right way, produces endless disputations and sects. Allah will judge between them. But if they are determined to go after falsehoods and forget the gratitude and service which they owe to Allah, and Allah alone, they are putting themselves on a Path where they will get no guidance. They are cutting themselves off from revealed Truth. (39.3)Worshippers of Idols or of deities other than Allah, e.g., saints or perhaps Wealth and Power, Science or Selfish Desire, may pretend that these are symbols that may get them nearer to their self-development, nearer to the goal of their life, nearer to Allah, but they are altogether on the wrong track. (39.3)

39:11 - Say: “Verily I am commanded to serve Allah with sincere devotion;

39:14 - Say: “It is Allah I serve with my sincere (and exclusive) devotion:

39:15 - Serve ye what ye will besides Him. “Say: “Truly those in loss are those who lose their own souls and their People on the Day of Judgement: Ah! That is indeed the (real and) evident Loss!” 4264 4265

4264 This is not a command or permission but a reproach and warning. The address of the Prophet of Allah may be paraphrased thus: “Whatever happens I will follow the command of Allah. He has revealed Himself, and I know that He is One, supreme over all creatures. Him alone will I serve. Is there any so ignorant as to seek anyone else? Let him do so and see the result. The loss will be his own. For he falls from Grace into Evil.’ (39.15)

4265 The cult of Evil results in the destruction of all that is best and most valuable in us, as well as poisons all the affections which link us to our families, friends, and people, in the Final Adjustment, which we call the Day of Judgment. (39.15)

63:9 - O ye who believe! let not your riches or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah. If any act thus the loss is their own. 5476

5476 Riches and human resources of all kinds are but fleeting sources of enjoyment. They should not turn away the good man from his devotion to Allah:

“Remembrance of Allah” includes every act of service and goodness, every kind thought and kind deed, for this is the service and sacrifice which Allah requires of us. If we fail in this, the loss is our own, not any one else’s: for it stunts our own spiritual growth. (63.9)

63:10 - And spend something (in charity) out of the substance which We have bestowed on you before death should come to any of you and he should say “O my Lord! Why didst thou not give me respite for a little while? I should then have given (largely) in charity and I should have been one of the doers of good.” 5477

5477 “Substance” or Sustenance”. Whatever good we enjoy comes from Allah, and it is our duty to use some of it in the service of others, for that is Charity and the service of Allah. Every unselfish act is Charity. And we must not postpone our good resolutions to the future. Death may come suddenly on us, and we cannot then be allowed to plead for more time. Every present moment calls urgently for its good deed. (63.10)

9:91 - There is no blame on those who are infirm or ill or who find no resources to spend (on the cause) if they are sincere (in duty) to Allah and His Apostle :no ground (of complaints can there be against such as do right: and Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful. 1343

1343 Though active service in person or by contributing resources is expected in emergencies of every person who believes in the Cause, there are some who must necessarily be exempted without the least blame attaching to them. Such would be those who are weak in body on account of age, sex, infirmity or illness. Personal service in their case is out of the question, but they could contribute towards expenses if they are able. But if they are too poor to afford even such assistance, they are excused. But in all cases the motive must be sincere, and there should be a desire to serve and to such duty as they can. With such motives people are doing good or right in whatever form they express their service: sometimes, in Milton’s words, “they also serve who only stand and wait.” In any case their purity of motive would get Allah’s grace and forgiveness, and we must not criticise even if we thought they might have done more. (9.19)

42:36 - Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this Life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 4575 4576

4576 The higher and more permanent gifts which come from Allah’s Presence are for those who truly worship and serve Allah. These are described by nine of their characteristics:V IZ.

(1) they have Faith: and it follows that

(2) they trust in Allah, instead of running after false standards or values:

(3) they eschew the more serious offences against Allah’s Law, and of course keep clear of any offences against sex (indecencies);

(4) While knowing that they are not themselves perfect, they are ready to forgive others, even though they are sorely tried with anger and provocation; for the rest see n. 4578. (42.36)

(5) They are ready at all times to hearken to Allah’s Signs, or to listen to the admonitions of prophets of Allah, and to follow the true Path, as they understand it;

(6) They keep personal contact with Allah, by habits of Prayer and Praise;

(7) Their conduct in life is open and determined by mutual Consultation between those who are entitled to voice, e.g., in private domestic affairs, as between husband and wife, or other responsible members of the house; in affairs of business, as between partners or parties interested; and in State affairs, as between rulers and ruled, or as between different departments of administration, to preserve the unity of administration;

(8) they do not forget Charity, or the help due to their weaker brethren, out of the wealth or gifts or talents or opportunities, which Allah has provided for themselves; and

(9) When other people use them despitefully, they are not cowed down or terrorised into submission and acceptance of evil, but stand up for their rights within the limits mentioned in verse 40. (42. 38)

42:38 - Those who hearken to their Lord and establish regular prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what we bestow on them for Sustenance; 4578 4579

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith

Hadith 8.48 Narrated by

Abu Shuraih Al Adawi

My ears heard and my eyes saw the Prophet when he spoke, “Anybody who believes in Allah and Last Day, should serve his neighbor generously, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should serve his guest generously by giving him his reward.” It was asked. “What is his reward, O Allah’s Apostle?” He said, “(To be entertained generously) for a day and a night with high quality of food and the guest has the right to be entertained for three days (with ordinary food) and if he stays longer, what he will be provided with will be regarded as Sadaqa (a charitable gift). And anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet (i.e. abstain from all kinds of dirty and evil talks).”

Sunan of Abu-Dawood

Hadith 5223 Narrated by

AbuDharr

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: in the morning alms are due from every bone in man’s fingers and toes. Salutation to everyone he meets is alms; enjoining good is alms; forbidding what is disreputable is alms; removing what is harmful from the road is alms; having sexual intercourse with his wife is alms. The people asked: He fulfils his desire, Apostle of Allah; is it alms? He replied: Tell me if he fulfilled his desire where he had no right, would he commit a sin ? He then said: Two rak’ahs which one prays in the forenoon serve instead of all that.

If Allah’s will were to give a people a great deal of good, he would guide them to the straight path. Allah’s bounties with which we are favoured are countless. Of these bounties, the greatest bar none, is no doubt the great faith of Islam, the faith with which we shall never go astray as long as we continue to hold fast to. In fact, we shall be rightly guided and shall enjoy happiness, for this is what Allah - Most High – has promised us and what Allah’s messenger, peace be upon him, has conveyed. Moreover, it is borne out by history and present realities.

We live today, in a deeply disturbed world. Though modern man is highly advanced in many ways, yet he is unable to grasp fully of what he is doing. He fails to understand the meaning and consequences of his actions. To bail human kind out of its predicament. We should aim at in the qualitative development of the life of the people in their spiritual, moral and cultural attainment. They do possess yet untapped resources of vision and creativity as well as moral energies, which can be mobilized..

Science and Technology can no longer force ahead by itself without religion. ISLAM teaches the

the world human love and universal brotherhood. Prophet Muhammad (SAL) was an embodiment of righteousness and pardoned even his worst enemy. Almighty Allah gave unto the world, a practical lesson on the dignity of man, and equality of men. But, what actually happens today? Unfortunately people everywhere do not love the religion they profess and not practice the religion sufficiciently enough as they have failed to read and understand their religion, (and lead lives according to Ilamic Shari’a) and as a result find themselves in strife, in clashes and are at one another’s throats. This has brought about the spiritual and the moral crisis and everyone seems to be acting vindictively and with great hostility against one another. Values and standards in all fields have declined alarmingly. This shows that Man – who is neglectful of his duties towards his Creator, is strengthening the hand of the avowed enemy of mankind –the Satan (17:53).

5:91 - Satan’s plan is (but) to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants and gambling and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer: will ye not then abstain?

29:2 - Do men think that they will be left alone on saying "We believe" and that they will not be tested?

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith

Hadith 8.63 Narrated by

Abu Huraira

Allah’s Apostle said, “Time will pass rapidly, good deeds will decrease, and miserliness will be thrown (in the hearts of the people), and the Harj (will increase).” They asked, “What is the Harj?” He replied, “(It is) killing (murdering), (it is) murdering (killing).

Text Box: 3426 The men of Faith look forward to Allah, and the object of their hopes is the meeting with Allah. They should strive with might and main to serve Him in this life, for this life is short, and the Term appointed for their probation will soon be over. (29.5)*****

29:7 - Those who believe and work righteous deeds from them shall We blot out all evil (that may be) in them and We shall reward them according to the best of their deeds. 3429

In striving to purify our Faith and our Life, we are enabled to avoid the consequences of our misdeeds for Allah will forgive any evil in our past, and help to the attainment of a Future based on the best of what we have done rather than on the poor average of our own merits. The atonement or expiation is by Allah's Mercy, not by our merits or the merits or sacrifice of anyone else.
